| Editorial Board Review: |
This is a grammar-translation syllabus for the beginning levels of Modern Standard Arabic. The sentences and vocabulary are based on the context and usages of modern Arabic and the contemporary Arab world.
The predominant medium for the exercise materials is reading/writing, and, while there is scope for the innovative teacher to develop oral activities, drills and exercises that will invoke those skills are not included in the syllabus itself.
The primary focus of this work is on the development of the reading and writing skills through a carefully organized and sequenced introduction of the principal grammatical features of modern standard Arabic. |
