This is an unusual grammar book.It comprises two parts: one on selected grammatical topics deemed by the author as crucial for students (Arab high school level) and another one which is a glossary of the most common grammatical particles, illustrated by examples already parsed. They are alphabetically ordered for easy consultation by the student. Every grammar topic is followed by parsing exercises which contain a variety of sentences representing the topics discussed. The glossary of particles contains no exercises, but it incorporates plenty of parsed examples. The topics in the first part include the nominal sentence, the auxiliary particles and verbs that may introduce a nominal sentence, the auxiliary particles and verbs that may introduce a nominal sentence, the verbal sentence, moods of the present tense (imperfect), accusative nouns, question words, and analysis of sentences. The style is simple and clear and almost all examples are up to date and make sense. |
