Ilustrado con fotografías de los narradores, este libro fue traducido por el investigador y estudioso Paul H. Gelles (University of California, Riverside) que ha vivido en comunidades andinas del Perú durante largas temporadas, y por la peruana Gabriela Martínez. La traducción tiene, sin duda, el mérito de ser la primera y el acierto de haberse ceñido casi literalmente al texto original, manteniendo sin alteración, por ejemplo, algunos vocablos entrañablemente quechuas. De haberse traducido, tal vez se habría llegado a desvirtuar toda la carga emotiva y sonora de estos vocablos. |
